Top seeded teams take home the gold

WALDOBORO: The top seeded Rockland 7th Grade girls completed their perfect season by besting Camden-Rockport 44-39 for the Busline Championship Tuesday night at Medomak Middle School.

The undefeated Eagles led 16-12, 23-19 and 30-29 at the quarter breaks. Top scorer for Rockland was team Captain Brooke Dugan with 19 points. Also scoring for the Eagles were Trittany Penn, 10; Kim Young, eight; Emma Spencer, six; Abby Hersom pitching in with one point.

Other Rockland team members are; Isabella Garver, Abby Provost, Ashley Malstrom, Sarah Dennison, Kaylynn Emerson, Chelsea Fish, Mckenzie Sirois, Jamie Delbuono, Katie McCollough, and Manager Maggie Drinkwater.

Top scorer for the Schooners was Team Captain Addy Drinkwater with 19 points. Others scoring for the Schooners were Melanie Vangel, 17; Haley Terrio and Abby Barron each with two points.

Team players for the Schooners are; Hannah Corney, Kiera Haining, Brittany Bowman, Allison Warren, Paige Christie, Morgan Heckerd, Natalie Hamalainen, Erin Doran, and Molly Turner-Watts.

The 7th and 8th grade girls free throw championships took place in between the two games played. Winning for the 7th grade girls was Camden-Rockport's Melanie Vangel making nine out of 20 shots. The 8th grade champion was Boothbay's Sarah Caron who made 18 out of 20 shots.

The top seeded Camden-Rockport Schooners bested the Boothbay Wildcats 48-39 to complete their perfect season and take home the 8th grade busline championship trophy.

The undefeated Schooners ended the first quarter tied 10-10, then lead the second and third quarters 24-16 and 36-27. Top scorer for the Schooners was Jordan Knowlton with a commanding 32 points. Others scoring for Camden-Rockport were; Sarah Mayberry, six; Kristina Alex and Caitland Sweeting each with four points, and Jesse Widzgowski with two.

Schooner team members are Caroline Matteo, Emily Lopez, Chelsea Hunter, Lexi Hershey, Sierra Gilbert, and Anna Mynick.

Top scorer for the Wildcats was Alex Clarke with 14 points. Also scoring for the Wildcats were; Allison Craker, 13; Sarah Caron, eight; Emile Farnhan and Mikayla McFetridge each with two points.

Boothbay Wildcats team members are Shaylee Sibley, Anna-Lee L'Heureau, Arden McSwain, Krystina Nichols, Madison McCarthy, and Jessica Murray.

Lynx dominate Eagles in quarterfinal action

LINCOLNVILLE: 8th grade girls Busline quarterfinals kicked off Monday night at Lincolnville Central School, where the Rockland Eagles fell to the Lynx 42-23.


Top scorer for the Lynx was Megan LeGage with 15 points. Others scoring for the Lynx were Robin Botley, 13; Camilla Walker, five; Tia Silverio, three; Tasha Kordeis, Hayley Down, and Lindsey Brown each with two points. Other Lynx players are Nica McMuster and Nicole Williams.

Hannah Plourde lead the Eagles contributing nine points, Casey Carroll scored seven, Zoey Proctor scored five, Emma Davis and Olivia Stevens each with one point. Other players for the Rockland Eagles are Lilly Feltus, Caroline Lutrell, Shelby Fogg, Phoebe Ferriolo, Hannah Lacasse, Chelsea Keyes, Danessa MacDonald, Emily Nicholson, and Julia Lunt.

Schooners split with Lynx

CAMDEN: The 7th grade Schooner girls team suffered a disappointing loss to visiting Lincolnville Wednesday night at Camden-Rockport Middle School. The Lynx pulled ahead in the second quarter and managed to hold on for a 44-40 win.

Top scorer for the Lynx was Annie Young pouring in 14 points. Other scorers were Marissa Libby, 13; Carrie Milner, seven; Mckayla Leary, six; Jaclyn Gilson and Grace Harrison each with two points.

Top scorer for the Schooners was Addie Drinkwater who contributed 14 points. Others to score were Melanie Vangel, seven; Moira Pieri, Brittany Bowman, and Fiona Fischer each with four, Haley Terrio, Abby Boron, and Natalie Hamalainen each with two, and Allison Warren chipping in with one point.

In 8th grade action, the CRMS Schooners dominated the court with a 46-27 win over the visiting Linconville Lynx.

Leading the Schooners was Cailand Sweeting with 17 points. Other scorers for Camden-Rockport were Jordan Knowlton, 10; Sarah Mayberry, seven; Caroline Matteo, six; Jesse Widzgowski, four; and Kristina Alex, two.

The Lynx were lead by Libby Simpkins who scored 10 points. Also scoring was Megan Legage, nine; Camilla Walker, four; Robin Botley and Tasha Kordeis each with two points.

Rockland boys sweep Wiscasset

ROCKLAND: The Rockland 7th and 8th grade boys teams both dominated the court Tuesday night against Wiscasset, with both squads enjoying a stellar victory.

The Rockland 8th grade boys team beat out Wiscasset for a 71-37 win. Top scorer for Rockland was S. Davenport with 11 points. Also scoring for the Eagles were B. Taylor and T. Stone each with 10, E. Rankowen, nine; J. Butman, eight; S. Mekin, seven; B. Hall, D. Hendricks, C. Clement, and P.J. Spearing each with four points.

Scoring for Wiscasset were A. Haskell with 17 points, E. Stewart, six; Longfellow, five; N. Smeleen, four; L. Grover, J. Chapman each with two; and R. Ne with one point.

In the 7th Grade match up, Rockland also dominated the court securing a 60-38 win over visiting Wiscasset.

Top scorer for Rockland was Bronson Philbrick with 18 points. Other scorers for Rockland were Isaiah Patterson with 10, David Gould, eight; James Neuyen, seven; Cole Chase and Cody Chase each with six, J.T. Tobin and Reilly Flanagan each with two, and Gummar Cummings chipping in with one point.

Scoring for Wiscasset were Travis Padilla with 21 points, Matt Johnson with nine, Nate Howard with four, and Calvin Griffin and Tom Anderson each with two points.

Windjammer boys tromp Tigers

ROCKPORT: The Camden Hills Windjammer boys sub varsity squads enjoyed commanding defeats over the visiting Tigers of Rockland District High School Thursday night.

In the Junior Varsity match, the Windjammers beat out the Tigers 59-31. Top scorers for Camden Hills were Casey Wilson and Joel Gabriel each with 13 points. Others scoring for the Windjammers were, Cameron Gartley, 12; Rick McClellan and Sean Bardon, four each; Nate Catell and James Cameron, three each; Casey Scott and Adam Landwehr each with two points.

For the Rockland Tigers, Derek Gustin with seven points, Gentry Burch and Ryan Ecker five each; J. Harjula, four; Derrick Miller and Aiden Hadley, three each; David Harrison and Joe Nelsen, two each; and Ben Staples chipping in with one point.

In Freshman action, the Windjammers also dominated the court, capturing a 60-33 win over the Tigers.

Top scorers for Camden Hills were Nathan Schultz with 12 points and Sam Predham with eight. Other scorers were Jacob Smith, six; Chris Brown and Andrew Flanagan with five each, Adam Carlsen, Kyle Olehnik, Taylor Hall and Sam Rogers each with four, Myles Safford and Vinny Kwiatowski each with three, and Evan Drinkwater contributing two points.
